Hello, and welcome to my little space! I am Annetta, a 27-year old writer and researcher on the spectrum between Belarusian and Cypriot. With a heart for stories outside the mainstream, and for listening to absence, my writing explores ways in using writing to bridge the gap between sociopolitical issues and the individual, especially within the themes of feminism, migration and mental health.
I graduated with a BA degree in English Language and Literature from the European University Cyprus and an MA in English from King’s College London. Her MA dissertation was a life writing study on the theme of marriages-of-convenience across Cyprus. My first debut life writing collection, I am Cyprus, on the experience of migrants and refugees around Cyprus is also due to be published in November 2020. My work has been published by both local and international presses.I have also been invited to speak/perform samples of my work across the island as well as during my writing residency with KROKODIL, Serbia, in February 2019.
In 2019, together with another two very talented writers on the island, we founded Pe’Ta, a Larnaca-based platform to showcase local talent in storytelling, poetry, music and performance. At present, I am also part of a pan-European team organising arts and literary festivals across Europe.
That is a snippet of my life. Have a peak around here and get to know me, my writing and my work. If you would like to get in touch, collaborate and learn more about my work, do get in touch by emailing annettabenzar@gmail.com
