The National Theater was inaugurated in 1901 as the "Royal Theatre" and operated until 1908. It remained closed until 1930 when, by presidential decree, the "National Theatre" was established. In English its name is National Theater of Greece. The National Theater is managed by a seven-member Board of Directors and the Artistic Director. The National Theater has five Stages. Under the supervision of the Artistic Director of the National Theater, his Drama School operates, which is housed in the School of Athens-Irini Papa, on Piraeus Street.
