1926-2021 Brief History Traga Drama School is an organic continuation of the Drama School of the National Conservatory. It was founded in 1926 by Manolis Kalomiris and Marika Kotopoulis. As the first and excellent graduate of the School (1929), Thanos Tragas accepts Kotopoulis' proposal, in addition to participating in her troupe's performances, to teach at the Drama School. Later, he also took over the Directorship of the School until his death (1983). His performances with students of the School toured all over Greece with the aim of introducing Greek theater to all regions. His work was continued by Mary Traga, who in honor of the Teacher and her husband renamed the School "Traga Drama School". Since then the students have been awarded and excelled with the performances of the School and outside Greece (Istanbul, Bucharest etc.). In 1994, the School's theater (100 seats) was opened in the neoclassical building on Deligianni Street (behind the National Archaeological Museum) and thus the students get their own space of expression. The same building houses all six classrooms (Experimental Stage, Theatre, 90 sq.m. Dance Hall, Music Hall, Improvisation Hall, Rehearsal Hall) along with the School's rich Theater Library and Theatrical Showcase. The School, which is now under the direction of Christina Traga, daughter of Thanos and Mary, promises to introduce its students to a system based on the principles of Realism in Theater and Cinema respecting its history and continuing the dream of its founders .
