The emblematic PALLAS theater was built between 1931-1932 and was the most notable interwar cinema in the Balkans. It was designed in a classicizing modern style, based on French standards. The monumental entrance is dominated by colorful marbles and the impressive staircase, while the foyer features walnut panelling, art deco stained glass and elaborate mosaics. The hall originally had 2500 seats with a characteristic corrugated roof. The complete renovation of the theater took place at the beginning of 2000 with respect to its architecture and preservation of all historical elements, making it a modern theater-monument, 1478 seats. The two majestic marble staircases with ornate bronze handrails lead to a high-ceilinged imposing space, transformed under the supervision of set designer Eva Nathena with unique art deco vintage furniture, special constructions, magnificent velvet sofas and booths, scenographic lighting and a huge bar – project art.
